ABOUT US

Machars Ecology Ltd is an ecological consultancy with a reputation for delivering high quality ecological surveys and assessments.  We provide expertise to developers in the renewable energy sector, property and construction firms, utility companies, public sector clients and community groups.  We pride ourselves on delivering quality services in a timely manner and at an affordable level.

Machars Ecology is owned and operated by its two directors: Ed and Suzi Robinson.

Ed Robinson BSc. Hons., MCIEEM

Ed established Machars Ecology in late 2010.  He has been involved in ecological consultancy for 14 years during which time he has gained a wealth of experience surveying protected species and habitats.

His experience to date encompasses a diverse range of development types including wind and hydro-electric schemes, pipeline projects, housing schemes, commercial development and public sector development. His key skills include the delivery of robust ecological impact assessments (EcIA), project management, development of habitat management plans (HMPs) & species protection plans (SPPs) and protected species licensing.  He has carried out an ecological clerk of works (ECoW) role on several construction projects (including wind farms, hydro schemes and a pipeline project).

Suzi Robinson MRes, BSc. Hons., MCIEEM

With a strong background in ecological research, Suzi developed a broad range of analytical and reporting skills before pursuing a career in ecological consultancy.  Her career in consultancy has involved undertaking site feasibility assessments, pre-planning field work and impact assessment through to construction phase supervision.  She has worked on a large number of onshore wind farms and run-of-river hydro schemes as well as commercial development projects.  Her survey experience focuses on habitat and vegetation surveys as well as protected mammals, reptiles, amphibians and a broad range of general and species specific bird survey techniques.  Key analytical techniques which she has developed include: ornithological collision risk modelling and GIS.

 

Suzi has experience writing a range of ecology and ornithology impact assessments for renewable development andhas experience in developing habitat management plans (HMPs) and species protection plans (SPPs).  She has also undertaken an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) role on several projects.
